I've found that my computer now likes to have a constant distortion running through the speakers and headphones. It's very low, but does get in the way of gaming. This constant "hiss" also seems to react to mouse movements, scrolling, etc....its tone getting higher whenever I slide the mouse cursor across a page, for example. I am at a total loss!!

My sound card comes on the following motherboard:

Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. A7N8X-E REV 2.xx
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe ACPI BIOS Rev 1011 05/20/2004

Hi Sleeperkid!

Try double-clicking the volume icon next to your clock and setting the LINE IN volume level to it's minimum level. This has worked for me in the past when I get that hissing sound from the speakers.
