Hello, there

I am having some troubles with my computer, it is "Fat32" and it wants to "check drives for consistancy" everytime I start up. you can "esc" past it and the computer works fine. How can I stop my computer from doing this?

If I let it run through it hangs at around 60% then I have to turn it off and start again. It is also very very slow... over an hour before it hangs..

I have tried running chkdsk from the command prompt and it runs through fine there but does not fix the problem.

Please help me I'm not sure what to do here

Thanks in advance!

When you're in Windows and you press Ctrl + Alt + Del and the Task Manager comes up , click the Performance Tab and let me know what percentage your CPU is at and check the processes list and try to find out which files are taking up all the resources (if this is happening). Next do this.

Performance was about 2-8 percent....

PF - 166mb

Explorer - 44 720
Svchost - 19 440
Stopzilla - 11 816

Need anymore? That's the top 3...

I can't seem to defrag either... it freezes as well

When I run chkdsk at the command prompt it says can't fix errors because /f wasn't run... so I run chkdsk /f and it says Drive can't be locked.. resume on startup... y/n and we're back to the same old problem....

Checks on startup then hangs about 66% is also VERY slow..

Thankyou!

Hi Misselle

See if this article will help you, http://www.winnetmag...4614/14614.html

I would boot the cp, press exit on checkdisk, disable my antivirus, reboot, let checkdisk run again to see if it makes any difference.
