Hi
i have recently encoutered a problem whereby my computer seems to freeze at any certain point. Although i first thought it was a memory problem but this is not to be. sometimes after normal reboot it freezes without opening any programs. After this, upon restart TWO BEEPS are heard and then the monitor turns to standby. At this point i tend to turn of the computer and wait about 20 minutes until the next reboot. plz can you help in solving this problem A.S.A.P as i have many assignments due within the end of this year.

Hi Keith
Thanks for such a quick response, much appreciated. i have downloaded the program you insisted. however i could not find the BEEP CODES. i have added attachments of both reports on Motherboard and Bios.plz could you check them and inform me wheather there is any fault.

Also i was wondering wheather is it normal for a computer with 256mb ram to use 170mb ram without any programs being opened ? ( ive included a report for this as well).

There are 2 main beep codes for the Award BIOS:
one long beep and two short beeps - Video error (reseat or replace video card)
two short beeps - Non-Fatal Error (reseat RAM, check other components)

Download the most suitable of these

http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

This will give you a disc the PC will boot from and test the memory

Let it run for a few complete passes
