Hello, first I must say thank you so much for this service and the advice offered, you are saving the lives of many the computer challenged, myself included.

So, today my Norton Antivirus started saying it dected the Bloodhound.w32.ep virus in C:\windows\system32\msupdate.cmd. I came here and have done all the steps in the readme first section including uninstalling Norton and installing AVG. Additionally I had Panda scan my computer which I think has removed the Bloodhound.w32.ep virus. However when I ran AVG it said I had 2 viruses but it could not remove them because they are archived. So how do I go about removing these and are they part of the bloodhound virus? I would really like to beable to download the windows SP2 update but I don't know if my computer is free of viruses now.

when norton detects an unknown virus it will call it Bloodhound something or other, the problem is when Norton detects ANYTHING it can also say Bloodhound Virus, whatever you do if you ever get a message saying uninstall and re-install Norton DONT do it unless you know for sure it isnt working, there is a problem with it during certain errors and you WILL get that message but pay it no mind, more than likely you need to dump your Temp Folders as an infected file is hiding there. This program will clean ALL the Temp fles on your machine and other things you dont need like Histories of most recently opened pages an most opened item/program histories as well.


Try this and see if it stops and let us know!

HI Bashful,

AVG Free is indicating that a virus has been found and the test results status reads "Infected, embedded object."
AVG Free has detected a virus that resides in an archive file (such as a zip file, .exe or .cabfile, etc). AVG Free Anti-Virus cannot remove viruses that are embedded in objects. Therefore, you will need to delete this file manually. If the infected file is a zip file, you would have to extract it and delete it in that manner and thats why we dumped all the Temp Files being thats where you get most .cab files which are being read as infected. Your log looks great but never fear, if you do see nasties theres always someone here who will help!

Also grab the service pack2 and the latest updates for security and all microsoft related programs and software.
