Hello, I'm getting a bunch of popups from adchannel.contextplus.net, and screensavers.com, and IE keeps crashing. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Edit: I found that I have a program called ContextPlus! (I should have noticed that earlier, given that the pop-ups were from adchannel.contextplus.net,) but as i'm fairly computer inept, I would appreciate to be informed of a safe method of removing it?

Hi dundunbeechbutt
Welcome to GeeksToGo! I will be helping you in cleaning up your computer!

Please print out these directions for use if/when you cannot access this page.

Please scan with HJT and place a check next to the following items:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://red.clientapp...://my.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapp...://my.yahoo.com
O2 - BHO: SDWin32 Class - {FD204D86-05B9-4B50-9093-89A5056F3CD5} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\qrvly.dll (file missing)
O16 - DPF: {94B82441-A413-4E43-8422-D49930E69764} (TLIEFlashObj Class) - https://echat.us.del...t/TLIEFlash.CAB
O16 - DPF: {D6FCA8ED-4715-43DE-9BD2-2789778A5B09} (NPKCX Control) - http://guard.gunboun...Crypt/npkcx.cab

Do you recognize the domain here? 'BUTTS'? If not, have HJT also fix the following items:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BUTTS
O17 - HKLM\Software\..\Telephony: DomainName = BUTTS
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BUTTS
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BUTTS

Then, make sure all browser windows and applications are closed, and click the Fix Checked button.

Reboot, then scan with HJT and post a new log.

Hello dundunbeechbutt. After looking over your log, you seem to be clean. The only thing I notice is you still have the following lines:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BUTTS
O17 - HKLM\Software\..\Telephony: DomainName = BUTTS
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BUTTS
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BUTTS

Did you mark these items in HJT, or do you recognize the domain BUTTS, and decided not to mark it for fixing?

How is your computer running now?

I recognize the domain name, but should I remove it, anyway?
That's the only thing in my log that I am not sure about.

I'm still getting the pop-ups as much.
Internet Explorer isn't crashing as much, though.

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE to download Silent Runner's.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
    • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
      click NO
  • If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.
