hi and welcome to geekstogo,

Well you certainly have a mess here, lets get you cleaned up :tazz:

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and Run the Program. Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows. Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of aklsp.dll. Reboot.

next please do the following,

Boot into Safe mode, hit ctrl+alt+delete this will bring up your task manager. click on teh processes tab and find the following entry then click on kill process.

l?[bleep].exe <--Note: it appears that this entry may have been edited by the forum profanity filter so it may not show up as listed here.

Then using windows explorer find and delete the following entry:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\l?[bleep].exe <--Note: it appears that this entry may have been edited by the forum profanity filter so it may not show up as listed here.

Please Download CoolWebShredder, from http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=17 , Extract it & run the program. Click the Next Button & let it scan. Make sure you let it fix all CWS Remnants. Afterwards, Please Post a fresh Hijack This log.

Thank you for your response EFWIS. I downloaded and ran the LSPFIX. Unfortunately though I did not no what files to delete in the next set of instructions because the profanity filter blocked out the file names?? I booted in safe mode and tried to look for anything suspicious but I wasnt sure what process to kill and I didnt want to take a chance and guess. So here is my log after the LSPFIX and CW shredder. Thanks,
S.C.

sorry for the delayed response I was out of town this weekend. :tazz:

to find that file so you can delete it, could you please look at the log that was saved on your computer. In the section of the log, that I have quoted below, you will find the file we need to get rid of. I have highlighted the three listings you will look for, the one in red is the one that needs to be removed. The two blue ones are the files that will help you locate the file in question. once that file has been removed by following the instructions I posted earlier, please post a fresh Hijack this log and we will finish cleaning your machine.

any questions feel free to ask. :)

Your log is clean :tazz:

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place? and Spyware Aid's spyware article: Spyware, Adware, Malware: What it is, how it got on my computer, how to get rid of it, and how to prevent it.
