It not a lower version, its a modified version for the Next Gen., Some confusing features have been removed, and newer cooler ones have been added. So C# is basically a lower version of C++?
Basically C# is M$'s answer to Java.
C was the language that started it all and to think that it was just created for the sole purpose to make UNIX and today is the most widely used language(if not C directly, then its mods. like C++,Java or C#). It got the name 'C' because it was a modification of language called 'B' (which in turn was mod. of another language called 'BPCL')And is there such thing as C, or C+?
C++ gets its name because of the ++ operator present in C, which is shorthand for writing c=c+1. ++ operator is unique to C (and all its decendants and modifications)
So since, C with Classes(which was the name of C++ before) was new version of C, they added 1 to C itself i.e. c=c+1, which is C++.

Yep --- C is closely tied up with the history of Unix, which is closely tied up with the history of computing as we know it. C was invented to be the language of Unix.

Did Bill gates invent the computer, or just the operating system windows and other software?
