screensaver freezes

I have installed some screensavers from sites on the net, and from microsoft xp plus. They tend to freezeup and i have to reboot. Someone suggested that i should check the power supply, it states that the ups service is currently stopped. Is this the problem,if so how do i turn it on I have a nvidea graphics card.The screensavers that were on the original setup still work ok.I would be gratefull for any advice
