Did you run the usual spyware and virus scans (Ad-aware, Spybot, Panda ActiveScan, Ewido, etc.)? Please run them now.

When that's done, restart and run a HijackThis scan. Post that log here.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Also if you have any programs that may prevent system changes (like Spybot's TeaTimer program, Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, and others), make sure you disable them before doing any of the fixes (or accept the changes for the fix we give you when asked by the programs).

Go to My Computer->Tools (or View)->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders (it's Show all files for Windows 98).
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Make sure you downloaded, installed, updated and ran these programs (run in Safe Mode) already - Ad-aware, Spybot and Ewido (only if you have Windows 2000 or XP). If you didn't, do them now. For more information, go to http://www.greyknigh...com/spyware.htm

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode (if you don't know how, go to http://www.bleepingc...showtutorial=61 ). Make sure to close any open browsers.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you check the last one:

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {62999427-33FC-4baf-9C9C-BCE6BD127F08} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [SystemTools] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\kernels32.exe
O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

Locate the following Files/Folders and delete them if they exist (if no location given, just do a search for them):

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\kernels32.exe

Restart and run these scans:

Run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://housecall60.t...orp.asp?id=scan. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the free online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. If any are not cleanable, copy and paste the infected files here. Also run Panda ActiveScan at http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan. Post the log from the Panda scan here.

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here along with the Panda log.

I want you to upload this file (BRPReminder.exe - search for it first since it didn't mention where its located) to http://virusscan.jotti.org and report back what it found.

Everything looks A-OK now :tazz:

Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.

There is no "best" spyware/adware removal tool. There is no such thing because spyware is ever-changing each and every day. One day this tool may be the best and the next, another tool will be ranked even better. The ones I listed on the Anti-Spyware Tutorial are free ones that I recommend. If you want paid ones, do a Google search for Zero Spyware or SpySweeper as those two are the top...for now.

The two programs you installed - SpySheriff and the Spy Detect are bad programs. They are fake program posiing to be antispyware programs and you probably just got infected again :tazz: Update Ad-aware and Spybot. Run their scans and remove whatever they find. Then run an online scan at Panda and post the log here. Run a new HijackThis log and post that log here as well.

Yes, if you want a paid one, Webroot SpySweeper is one of the better ones out there currently.

McAfee? You have AVG already, which I like more than Norton or McAfee.

Any other problems now?

Your log is clean still :tazz:
