Canon RAW CRW File?

I have a camera that captures in RAW format and it creates a file with the extension CRW. I have lost the software that came with the camera and I cannot open this file in Photoshop CS. I have found a few other programs that will open it (brezzy browser, xnview)

What is the BEST software that is out there for RAW photos?????

Also, is it best for me to convert the RAW photo in a simple program (like xnview) to a TIFF format and work in photoshop?????

I am more comfortable in photoshop, however I don't want to loose any quailty by converting the photo
