This problem is on a different computer. I was using IE and all of a sudden the computer restarts and will not reconnect to the internet. At first I thought it was the modem, but it is working fine on this labtop.

I have verizon dsl and called their tech support. We did a couple of checks and the lady told me that the computer will ping fine, but their is something wrong with internet explorer. She suggested that using a different browser such as firefox could clear up the problem, but that computer does not have firefox. She then directed me to the tech line at microsoft, but they seem to charge a wee bit.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

BTW, the computer runs windows 2000.

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. You could try Winsock repair, go here for a guide:
http://www.geekstogo...?showtopic=2852

You could try a repair of IE if that does not work, see the sitcky post at the top of this forum for the guide.
If you want Firefox, go to http://www.mozilla.org/ and download it. Put it on a cd and then install on the problem computer.
