I completely understand why "one" would need to be careful but yes, the tone was a bit accusitorial by "Murray". Thank you however, Dsennete for explaining and apologizing for Murray.

I think you may have my posts mixed up with someone else's (my only posts here #2 & #4).. unless you can show what I said and where that would require an apology!!

So, I accept your apology !!

Well, I know who visits my site and the actual towns are correct-- i guess they are just in the same town by chance because they live in non-major cities.

Truth is that I already know where this person lives (it's my kids' step-mother) and I'm just wanting to know if SHE's invading MY privacy (well, sort of) by reading my blog. Kind of funny that y'all would perceive it as the other way around.

If you don't want anybody to invade your privacy then the last thing you do is set up a personal blog on an international medium such as the Internet.

Therefore the only way you can prevent this person from reading your blog is to not put one up in the first place, plus you also have no real way of preventing them reading them your blog anyway, short of taking it down.

An additional caveat: Even if you take your blog pages off of your webhost's server, search engines like Google may have already stored a "cached" page, so the material may be just as available as when you posted it.

My ISP will occasionally revert one of my sites to a previous version if they use a backup, requiring me to re-upload the site's files to make it current again. Nothing on the internet is "private", but if you really don't want her to read your blog, you could password protect your blog and only give the password to trusted individuals. That kinda negates the beauty of blogging, but...

Thank you for your input. I totally understand that a blog is "public". That is why in my first or second post I used the words "sort of" invading my privacy. So far I've had no problem with her reading my blog however I was considering "venting" a bit and wasn't sure whether or not I should. I don't want to stir anything up. I'm not sure if she even knows about my blog and thought the site meter might help to answer that question. I'm also aware that I can password protect blog entries, but I was hoping to avoid that, as I consider it a bit of a pain for the readers.

Thanks again for your help.

This clearly sounds like YOU are stalking HER. YOU must have too much time on your hands like all those other computer hackers.

Ayayae.... y'all really are Geeks ;-) This woman lives in the same town as me (less than 15 minutes away), is the step-mother of my kids, and has been for 10 years! I know where she lives AND works. In fact, I know more about this woman than I EVER cared to know in my life! If I wanted to stalk the woman I would! Give me a break, would you??? Maybe I should post all of her information here so that y'all can stalk her for me! Now THAT's an idea ;-)

BTW, the Geobutton thing tells you no more about a person's IP than what my sitemeter does, but thanks for the suggestion.

Also, I was able to go into properties of some previous emails from her and locate some IP's to their home ISP (EV1.net), none of which show up on my blog sitemeter as an exact match. Some are close, but not exact matches (yet). Would these numbers be exactly the same if she was viewing my blog from her home or might they change? I did notice that the IP's occassionally changed from email to email (from her) and being that I don't really know how IP's work, I'm wondering how consistent they are... I also have emails from her work email but again, the IP's seem to change...

Nah, no offense taken... just find it a bit frustrating that people like to think the worst of people sometimes. No biggie. But thanks for your follow up.
