I am deep in Spy Axe and SpyTrooper do-do. All of a sudden a "very" Microsoft bubble appeared warning of spyware infection. Clicking it downloaded Spy Axe. I'm an idiot and I actually tried to buy it. When it "denied" my card, I knew I'd been had. After running every scanner I have to no avail, I found ya'll.
I followed the instructions posted for suspicions of spyware, etc. Some of the problems have gone away. I no longer get the browser hijacker taking me to syserror.com.
However, after downloading Ewido, something is preventing it from running. It tries to start, I get a half-filled dialog box, a lot of clicks from the speakers, and then the dialog closes. And, the #%$@ taskbar bubble is still popping up every 5 or 6 seconds. So I don't know what's still here or not.
