Hi,
Ever since Norton reported that the file C:\WINNT\system32\awtsp.dll was infected with Trojan.Vundo, my computer has been runnning at intolerably slow speeds, mostly becuase the CPU usage is running up at 90%-100% constantly- the Trojan is causing the process winlogon.exe to eat up my computer speed.

I've tried everything, everything that I could find and done tons of research in every thread of every forum, but since everyone's infection [and solution] to trojan.vundo is slightly different, I haven't had any luck.

So far I've tried the following:
Norton Antivirus System Scan- Turns up the file & infection, but cannot quarantine, delete, or touch the file in any way.
Symantec's Release of a repair for Trojan. Vundo- Says the system isn't infected, but as we know, it is [this is a very common issue, it seems their fix is very inconsistent...]
AdAware SE- Turned up VirtuMundo, which I believe is related, but quarantining that does nothing.
Ewido Security Suite- Turned up plenty of crud, but nothing relating to Vundo and nothing that I deleted made things the slightest bit better.
VundoFix by Atri Seems to work for a lot of people, but when I run it, exactly to the specifications of response #48 on http://computing.net...orum/16663.html, I have some issues. It worked well up until I typed in the file locations, and the vundofix could not delete or in anyway tamper with the file because "it was being used by another application" or process, which I am guessing is winlogon.exe, considering that is the problem and one of the very few proccesses runnning in safe mode.
HijackThis Tried deleting the two obvious entries,
O20 - Winlogon Notify: awtsp - C:\WINNT\system32\awtsp.dll
and
O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {8DBF02DA-4360-4A7E-BEA1-347B87816327} - C:\WINNT\system32\awtsp.dll
. Tried this individually and also after my unsucessful run of VundoFix. As soon as I reboot norton antivirus is onthe horn again, and another hijack scan reports that those two entries are still there.

I don't know where to go from here. I feel like I've tried every option I've found lying around every forum. I'm not looking for someone to make me run the works of the spyware/adware removal program they think works best, becuase with as many scans I've done recently, I think that other than trojan vundo, my system is pretty clean. I'm looking for a fix that focuses on removing just this one, horrible, stubborn virus, once and for all, and getting my computer in working order again.

Thank you so much for anyone who provides their time and help. It is greatly appreciated.

here's a current HijackThis log for reference...
