Hey all,

I've been having problems installing new virus definitions on Norton LiveUpdate. So I uninstalled Norton Antivirus. Ever since then, my computer's been acting crazy. I can't print internet pages, I can't click on certain buttons on webpages (like the "Profile Options" button in my profile), I can't open Windows Media player, I can't even open up my control panel! When I double click on control panel the folder comes up but all the icons are blank. What I'm thinking happened is that there was a virus on my computer waiting to launch, and as soon as I uninstalled Norton, it infected my computer. Anyways, this is driving me nuts. I can't even reinstall Norton because it won't read the disc at this point. I've run Spybot, Adaware, and Cleanup with no luck. Here's my HiJack This log.

By the way, this log was saved as an Adobe file and wouldn't open. I had to open Notepad and manually open the log file through there just to view it.
ANY help and/or advice at all would be greatly appreciated. My computer is pretty much nonfunctional right now due to all the things it can't do. I think any replies will have to be emailed to me as I am unable to even view any replies to this forum...as I already said, I can't click on "Profile Options." You can email me at Do not post your email address online if you have any suggestions.

Please help ASAP!

Thanks,
Kevin

Errrm. How did you uninstall Norton and which version was it?

The uninstall did not complete properly from the looks of your log.
So it probably left a big mess behind in your registry.

For starters surf to http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and upload this file to be scanned C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\LXCFPPLS.EXE

Let me know the results.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O2 - BHO: YahooTaggedBM Class - {65D886A2-7CA7-479B-BB95-14D1EFB7946A} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: UberButton Class - {5BAB4B5B-68BC-4B02-94D6-2FC0DE4A7897} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [ccSetMgr] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe"

Then reboot and post a new log.
