Yesterday I connected a different monitor to Windows XP computer, and connected monitor that came with Windows XP to my Windows 98SE computer. Monitor worked great with Windows 98, but Windows XP would not open up, except run a file check diagnosis. So I reconnected everything back again.

Now on Windows XP I get the following :

C:\WINDOWS/Minidump\Min111205.01\dmp
C:\DOCUME~\JOAN&W~\LOCALS~\Temp\WERG.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

Error Signature_____________________________________-

BCCode: e0000415 BCP1:E1324570 BCP2 00000000 BCP3: 00000000
BCP4:00000000 0SVer:5_I_2600 SP: 1_0 Product: 256_1

The display driver for NVdia Riva 128/128ZX seems to be responsible for the system instability

Following Files will be included in the error report
C:\WINDOWS\Log Files\Watchdog\05 1112_0952_01.wdl

Error signature
SZAppName: Driver Display szAppVer:12D2001822030012DZ
SZModName: nv3.dll szModVer: 5.1.3528.343 offset: F07A06EA

As modem is not working I cannot send you log, so I typed it by hand. Please advise what is going on with system if you can.

Regards

Re-install the video adapter drivers from the installation CD

Start the System Restore tool at a command prompt

1. Restart your computer, and keep tapping F8 during the initial start-up until you get options, select Safe Mode with a command prompt then press enter.

2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials.

3. Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.

For additional information about the Safe mode with a command prompt, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

You don't need to the installation disk to do what Keith suggested.
