So, the uber smart mouth jerk "Defending Champion" Kurt Busch was stopped by police on Friday night near the racetrack, after running from police. He failed a field breathalizer test. He was also driving erratically. He was suspended for the last two races for this year, which will probably make him fall to 10th place in the points standings. Many people are already outraged, claiming that the punishment is too harsh. I think it is perfect. What do you think?

Here are links to a couple of articles about the incident, and the punishment:

Ironic that he drives a Crown Royal car at times this year, and is scheduled to drive the Miller Lite car next year. Also, strange (or lucky) that the field breathalizer test failed.

If he were arrested for drunk driving, I'd say the punishment wasn't too harsh, but since it was basically a traffic ticket, I'd say the punishment is too harsh.

Arpaio said Busch insulted the deputy by asking what law enforcement agency he was from and saying, "you ought to be directing traffic." Busch reportedly pulled out his driver's license and NASCAR identification and said, "Don't you know who I am?"

I think it's perfect. Ok..the field test failed. BUT, when he did the initial breathalyzer, it showed alcohol in his system. The one at the NASCAR trailer is the one that supposedly "didn't work"....then the charges were dropped? Come on. Does that seem a little fishy to anyone other than me??

That quote you pasted, Blair...ugh! Things like that are why I can't stand Kurt Busch anyway. I think the punishment is fitting. Yes...it will knock him to 10th place in the standings. Boo hoo! He is the Defending champion Does he think that means he is above behaving? He's more of a "role model" now than ever...and should darn well act accordingly.

I totally agree with Kat. It's so unacceptable to think that you are better than everyone else and "above the law". Nobody is better than anybody else. Nobody. Period. When people start thinking they are, that is when problems occur.

He deserves everything he gets. One of the best things about nascar last year was when Jimmy Spencer punched hin. He is not the sort of role model I want my kid or grandson looking up to. Luckily my son's favorite drive is Mark Martin and my grandson likes Jr.
I haven't yet met anyone who actually likes Busch
