registry clean up

Hi , according to a program i downloaded called 'Error Nuker' I have lots of junk clogging up my registry. I do not particularly want to purchase a remover as i believe microsoft should have a free facility. Is there a way i can clean up my registry or do i actually have to purchase the software.
