I got an emachines Windows XP, and I want the cheapest video card that will be able to run games like Half Life 2. Right now I have an NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400.

Can you tell us some more about your system? What's the CPU, and what speed? How much RAM? Does it have a PCI, or AGP video slot?

Lemme see... 3 PCI slots, 1 AGP on the motherboard. I believe 512 MB of RAM. Is that enough information?

Okay, one more question (maybe two). What screen resolution do you game at? i.e. 1024x768, and do you want to be able to turn up the detail and effects, or just be able to run it?

Well, I want to run the game, but it doesn't need have great detail, but it shouldn't look like crap either. I believe my screen resolution is 1024 x 768.

wouldnt he have to get an agp version though. From what he said he didnt say he had a pci express slot. is there even an agp version (cause I havnt seen one)
