Hi MaTTT, welcome to GeeksToGo.

Don't touch iexplore.exe, that's the file for Internet Explorer

First of all, you need to put HijackThis into a folder. Go to your C:\ drive where HijackThis is, on the nagigation bar on the left you will see "make a new folder", click on that..give the new folder a name you like and then move HijackThis into that folder.

Secondly, You have a LOP infection, which is most often transmitted by the sponsor program of Messenger Plus! 3 Please uninstall it completely from Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and restart your computer if you have that program. If you wish to keep the program once the infection is gone you can reinstall it without the sponsor program.

This link explains it better:
http://chooseknowled...senger-Plus.htm

Next, download and unzip to one folder:
http://metallica.gee...com/findlop.zip

Inside the folder find findlop.bat

Doubleclick it and it will create the file C:\findlop.txt
Find that file and copy the content into your next post along with a new HijackThis log. Before posting the HijackThis log, reenable any items disabled from startup, I need to see them ALL.

Right, I'm sorry for the slow reply, but i have been busy with work..

The Iexplore.exe file was never there before, and it's running while i'm not using internet explorer.. it shouldn't come back after i terminate it either..

I never had messenger plus and i never installed it, so i skipped the uninstalling steps, If i must do it, i will but i taught you might have made a mistake.

Ok, we will have to start with removing Webhancer and New.net...

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location such as your desktop. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet or Webhancer.

Download this removal tool from Symantec and run it..

http://securityrespo...ixWebHancer.exe

To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4.
(ONLY if you can't find the New.Net in Add/Remove programs).

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net or Webhancer, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet.. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.
If the uninstall was successful, reboot, come back to this thread and post a new log by using the Add Reply button at the top.

New.net is still there..

A malicious .DLL file is disrupting the LSP chain on your computer. We need to get rid of it.
  • Please download LSPFix from here.
  • Disconnect from the internet and run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
  • Check the I know what I'm doing box.
  • In the Keep box you should see one or more instances of newdotnet6_98.dll (the number might be different) and xfire_lsp_10650.dll (if they are in the remove box already just click Finish.)
  • Select every instance of newdotnet6_98.dll and xfire_lsp_10650.dll move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button.
  • When you are done click Finish>>.
Then delete the folder C:\PROGRAM FILES\NEWDOTNET

Then please post a new log and let's take care of the popups..

So i tried restarting, and it wouldn't delete again.. i re opened LSPfix.exe and the dll file was in the left 'Keep' panel'.. this is prooving to be complicated isn't it? :S

Good, now we can safely go on with the fixes..please print these instructions for use in safe mode...

A note on SpySpotter3. It appears on the rouge/suspect antispyware list:

http://www.spywarewa...nti-spyware.htm

Thus I recommend that you uninstall it and do the relevant HijackThis fixes for it and deletions below.

Open notepad and copy and paste next text in it:

%systemdrive%
cd C:\WINDOWS\Tasks
attrib -r -s -h A93B239C910CD3B4.job
del A93B239C910CD3B4.job

Save this as remjob.bat , choose to save it as *all files and place it on your desktop. Don't run it yet, we will in safe mode.

First, download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet.
*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

Please download Ewido Security Suite (do NOT run it yet!)
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be a big E icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
  • The program will now go to the main screen
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed
  • After the updates are installed, exit Ewido
Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

Once in Safe Mode:

Open HijackThis and click Scan. Put a check next to these if still there..

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {EC799533-EAFF-93FF-AD4C-B7BEC1622B1C} - C:\DOCUME~1\FRAN\APPLIC~1\SECT01~1\flapdefault.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpySpotter] C:\Program Files\SpySpotter3\SpySpotter.exe -startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msresearch] c:\windows\msresearch.exe

Close all other windows except HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Doubleclick on remjob.bat. A doswindow will open and close again, this is normal.

Reconfigure Windows XP to show hidden files:
Click Start. Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
Uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

Now delete these files folders in bold if still there:

C:\Program Files\webHancer
C:\Program Files\SpySpotter3
c:\windows\msresearch.exe
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\FRAN\APPLICATION DATA\SECT01~1
c:\documents and settings\fran\application data\spamth~1

Note on SECT01~1 and spamth~1. That is a windows abbreviation. The first six letters of the folders to delete will be sect01 and spamth.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

If Cleanup! asks if you want to reboot, click NO

Open Ewido
  • Click on scanner
  • Click Complete System Scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean the first infected file it finds. Choose "remove", then put a check next to "Perform action on all infections" in the left corner of the box so you don't have to sit and watch Ewido the whole time. Click OK.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report
  • Save the report to your desktop
  • Exit Ewido
Reboot back to normal mode.

Go here to make an online scan:

http://www.pandasoft.../activescan.htm

- Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Then please post a new HijackThis log, a new findlop log, the Ewido log and Panda results..

Delete these folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ball License Fast Owns
C:\Program Files\whInstall
C:\WINDOWS\system32\uiduohvof
C:\WINDOWS\RnVOS2VIIE1hU1Rh

Download the Hoster Here

Unzip Hoster to your desktop

Open up the Hoster program.
  • Make sure that the "make hosts writable?" button in the upper right corner is enabled.
  • Click back up Host files
  • then click Restore orginal host files
  • close program
Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."...then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.

A bug was found in l2mfix and it was updated this morning to fix it..please delete the one you have and download it again..

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then it will ask for a password enter bye (lowercase) then hit enter. Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, it will be ready for a reboot. Press any key to reboot. After the reboot notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
If after the reboot the log does not open double click on it in the l2mfix folder.
