So I have this warning on my computer that reads "warning you're in danger....."

and I hate to repeat a post but I can;t seem to find the begining of the problem. How do I remove this from my computer. I've tried adware and spybot but have had no luck. Is this the same as Backdoor agent b

I know this may be a repeat but IM kind of new to all this. Last summer I used CWS shredder and was able to remove a adware. Is there anything like that for this problem

Currently using XP with Norton and Adware6 and spybot....

Hey MM. Welcome to GTG. :tazz:

Sometimes rogue companies will send those warnings scaring you into clicking on the message and downloading a malicious program. Or, you may be infected. Only one way to tell.

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log as a new topic in the Hijack This forum. It will get a better response there from the people most qualified to analyze logs.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide. Also see this post.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results. ;)

You have a trojan.

You have a number of randomonly named files on your system. We like to start with an online virus and trojan scan. Even though you have antivirus software on your system, it can become corrupted by malware.

Please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Reboot your PC.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\WINNT\System32\kernels32.exe

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Reboot, and rescan with Hijack This and post a fresh log in this same topic.

Did you follow the instructions I posted earlier? It doesn't seem anything has changed. :tazz:

You still have the trojan.

Hit control>>alt>>delete and stop this process if it's there:

kernels32.exe

Run Hijack This and put a check mark next to these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System] C:\WINNT\System32\kernels32.exe

Reboot into safe mode and find this file and delete it.

C:\WINNT\System32\kernels32.exe

Run the trojan cleaner again. Clean out your temp. files and post a new log.

Also, did you purchase spyware doctor? I know it used to be a rogue program, but I see it is no longer labeled as such. That may be giving you that warning. If you didn't purchase it, I would uninstall it for now.

I did follow the instructions..........the last part was just a little above my level

I think most of it is gone now. The only remaining part is the desktop won;t show the typical Microsoft picture.

I'm doing the final instructions....thanks again for your help

I believe I have it licked but only a small part is still there

Download this file:
http://windowsxp.mvp...eg/EnableTM.reg
(if you have trouble downloading, right click the link and select "save target as".

Double Click to run, and it should fix your task manager.

also part of the problem was the desktop picture or that was where the warning was

Can you explain further?

Here are two problems remaining

it boots funny in away my cousins said it has never booted...still starts up just shows a funny screen

then wallpaper that was a picture in england is gone. the current wallpaper is blank or white. That was where the Warning was.....it all appears to be gone. the computer runs ok but still not sure if everything is OK...lol

I will try your suggestion now.
