I'm adding another computer to the office network. It came installed with XP SP1. When I installed SP2 from a disk downloaded from MS (not from windows update), it went through it's paces of backing up and updating files. After it prompted me to reboot, I'm getting nothing. Just a black screen and 2 beeps with a 4 or 5 second pause between them. Can't enter setup or safe mode. Any suggestions?

Booting the PC and tapping the delete key does not give you set up?

Booting the PC and tapping F8 does not give you options?

Nope nothing. Doesn't respond at all. I installed more memory earlier this afternoon, also. However, there were no problems till I installed SP2. Should I try removing the new memory, or not?

I would do that because the beeps are consistent with hardware failure

XP is unlikely to cause beeps, of which two, are usually memory related

If it helps any it's an ECS K7VMM+ mainboard, don't know much else about it, the manual doesn't have any troubleshooting sections. I tried booting from the XP CD, but no luck there either. The CDROM drive spun up for a minute, the went quiet. Everything is with a black screen. I'm at a complete loss here. Any other suggestions?

WOW, that's weird. I tried another monitor, and it's fine. Anyone know why the other monitor would have gone dark on me?

That is (possibly) a bit easier, monitors can sometimes go out of the loop, chances are if you turn the PC off, re-connect the other monitor, put it on standby, so it has a light, it will boot up OK

Seems to be fine now. I guess SP2 reset the monitors brightness setings on reboot. Thanks for all the quick replies.
