Somehow last night I ended up with the VX2 bug. After spending the better part of a day reading through your forum and trying to work this out myself, I'm finally making a post.

So I've been running Adaware and Spy Bot. Adaware couldn't remove VX2, saying it cant delete a certain file and asked to do it on reboot, and then when I did a reboot it didn't do anything. Spybot never even picked it up.

So after a while I got everything cleaned up except for the DLL file that the VX2 was in and the Guard.tmp. Removed those with KillBox. Ran Adaware again and all the VX2 seems to be gone, aside from the occasional IBIS Toolbar objects.

But my wallpaper is still messed up, something like a html document on top of my wallpaper. And my recycle bin wont empty.

I don't pretend to know much about this stuff, so what else do I need to do? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Ok so today I ran Adaware on startup, full system scan. 47 new critical objects, all IBIS no sign of VX2. I can post that log if needed.

Ran L2MFIX but had an error "system not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Applications." Proceeded anyway.

You do have some signs of the narrator trojan. Let's proceed and see if this takes care of it. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

We need to remove some entries fronm your trusted zone. Click Here, download and save the file -- Unzip. To execute this file: in Explorer - right-click (this file). Select Install from the Menu.

Recycle Bin

Just got home from class...

ok followed instructions to the letter, and even repeated for a second time.

removed everything except
orkj.dll
explorer.cab
zeta.exe

couldn't find those.

rebooted and still seems to have the same problem.
problems being every time I run Adaware I have about 40 something IBIS critical objects, cant run HJT without it closing unless I clean everything with Adaware, and some html document is running on top of my wallpaper...thats how i know it isn't fixed.

4. Empty your recycle bin.

Ok, here we go...followed the instructions and removed everything from all temp folders except one lil thing... ~671837.dll access denied. i even tried to get rid of it with killbox on a reboot, but it didn't remove it. so how do i remove something that doesn't want to go?

When i click on the properties all i get is an HTML Document and
