Welcome allsmyles5 <_<

Your computer has a number of spyware programs that we need to remove. For more info on spyware see the Spyware Tools link in my signature.

Let's start with a couple free programs. If you're on dial-up, just download and install Spybot Search & Destroy. If you're using broadband also download and install Ad-aware. Using two programs increases the likelihood of eliminating these spyware pests automatically.

Using Spybot: Start Spybot S&D using the "Spybot-S&D (easy mode)" link from your Start menu . Click the Search for updates button, if any are found then click the Download Updates button. After all updates are downloaded, click the Check for problems button. When the scan is complete, place a check next to anything marked in red, then click the Fix selected problems button.

Using Ad-aware: Open Ad-Aware and use the Check for updates now link. Download and accept the latest reference file. When finished click the Start button. When done scanning, the Abort button will change to Next. Click the Next button. Right-click in the Scanning Results window and click "Select all objects". Then click the "Next" button and confirm that you want to delete the selected entries.

When finished, Reboot your computer. Finally, reply to this post with a new HiJackThis log so we can look for any nasties that may have been missed. :D

CLICK HERE to download Spybot S&D

If your computer keeps rebooting before you can accomplish the suggestions above, please reply and we'll fix it manually. :D

Hi.. Thanks for getting me started.. I got the two programs downloaded. I've been trying for almost 2 hours to get the Spybot thing done, but of course as soon as I get to a certain point, my comptuer shuts down and restarts. I have stopped it manually a few times and deleted what it had found so far, but now I think I've reached a place it won't continue. Arrrrgh!

I really appreciate your help! So, what's the manual way? <_< :D

We'll list which items to fix using Hijack This, but I'm just leaving, so I'll have to reply later. Maybe Nathan will have a chance to do it. <_<

Hello again,

I managed to finally get both spybot and Ad-aware completed. The more I cleared out, the less often my computer rebooted. BUT, it still did it even after the final scan. <_<

I ran hijackthis again and here's what came up.

First, restart your computer in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and selecting safe mode from the menu). This should also prevent your computer from restarting. <_<

Please move Hijack This to its own folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This is because it will create backup files which we may need later, and these backups may flood your desktop.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

C:\Program Files\DownloadWare\dw.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SysUpd.exe
C:\Program Files\Sqwire\cc.exe
C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe
C:\Program Files\Common files\updater\wupdater.exe

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log.

I feeling so much better!
When I got to the ww.cxx.org and did that step, I did not see any inetadpt.dll in the box, so I didn't do anything. There were 3 things there with .dll but not inetadpt. Is that ok?

It seems that it's running a little slower now, especially getting to websites. BUT, it's not restarting! <_<

Now... How do I use the spybot and ad-aware? Is that something that runs all the time like Norton, or do I need to go in and manually run it daily? weekly?

Here's the list of hijack this. Oh, I kept getting an error when doing that too, but then I'd click okay and it'd keep going.

Congratulations! Your system's CLEAN <_<

Spybot and/or Ad-aware have to be run manually, and should be run weekly, or monthly (depending on your surfing habits). Be sure to update before running.

Also, it's very important that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date. Live update should be set to auto, and it doesn't hurt to check the date of the latest definition file. It should never be more than a few days old.

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster. It's free, will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. It also places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will impair attempts to infect your system. More info and download is available at:
SpywareBlaster: http://www.javacools...areblaster.html

Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows. It's very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks.

Hi,

I am having problems again. It started last night and twice now this morning with my system going black and starting at will. I am having some new pop ups as well. I have adware, spybot and Spyware blaster. I run adware and spybot daily if not more often. Adware usually gets things, but then spot doesn't. This morning though, I have restarted twice while trying to run spybot. Here's my hijackthis log.
Thanks so much, you guys are awesome!

Hi,
Yes I do have Spywareblaster installed and I do go in and update daily. At least that is what I think it's doing. I am going to go back to the website and see if there are intstructions on how to use it, maybe I'm not doing it correctly? Is it free, or do I need to do the upgrade and pay for it? <_<

Below is my new hijackthis log. Also, here is a web address that came up AGAIN after I restarted and got back online.
:D
Thanks for all your help.

Your clean again <_<

The upgrade only provided automatic updates. The free version you have to update your self (every week or two is plenty). :D

Hi, I did go read and found that out too. I tend to update every day only because I get sooo many pop ups it seems.

I just ran adware again, and it got rid of 5 more 'bugs'. I then had to reboot so it could finish. When it booted up again, I got the same Pop up I mentioned before, and now I'm still recieving pop ups. <_< Should I also have a pop up blocker installed?
The last time I tried to run spybot, it shut dow and restarted in the middle of he scan. I'm going to try it again now.

Any other suggestions as to what could be wrong??

:D

Hello again,

I have another question.

I have cable internet so I am always connected. I hardly ever shut down my computer all the way unless I am going out of town. Could I be having these problems because I am leaving my sysem on and have web pages up as well? Would it help if I shut down at night, or at least closed all of my browser windows when I'm not using them? I tend to leave quite a few open at once and just go back and forth that way.

<_<

Hi,
I'm back once again....Here's my list. It is shutting down and restarting during spybot AND when I try to run a full system virus scan. I was able to get a bunch out with Adware but then hung up in spybot. Thank you.
