Hi HuDaMan and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

In addition to Vundo (Winfixer) your system is infected with LOP and old malware files are causing a problem with your internet connection. This last one MUST be fixed first.

Missing .DLL file(s) has/have disrupted the LSP chain on your computer. This can be seen by the (010) entry(ies) in your HJT log. We must fix this problem as a priority.

1. Backup the registry by going to Start>Run> and type ‘regedit’ without the quotes. Then on the file menu choose ‘export’ in XP.

2. Download the LSPfix.txt and read the readme file.

3. Download LSPfix.zip or LSPfix.exe

4. Close all windows except LSPfix

5. Launch LSPfix.zip and install to its own folder, then click on LSPfix.exe. Or click on LSPfix.exe and it will launch the program.

6. Put a check mark in the box “I know what I am doing

7. Click ‘Finish

7. REBOOT to complete the task.

8. Now RUN HJT, click Scan and POST a new log file in this thread using “Add Reply”.

Regards,

Trevuren

Just give the file a name: RegBackup (example) and save it to your deskop. Once we are sure that the procedure has worked and that you are not having any internet problems, you should delete the file from your desktop.

Regards,

Trevuren

EXCELLENT. Now we go after VUNDO

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

1. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
  • After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning.
    It should look like this

    VundoFix V2.15 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
    Press enter to continue....

  • At this point press enter one time.
  • Next you will see:

Please Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
    and then press enter:

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvw.dll

  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum
    staff then press enter:

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\wvvwa.*

  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • The fix will run then HijackThis will open, if it does not open automatically please open it manually.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

    O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {B313D637-F405-4052-AC37-E2119AB3C8F8} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvw.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: awvvw - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvw.dll

  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis.
  • Press enter to exit the program then manually reboot your computer.
  • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.
2. Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users

Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

3. Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

4. Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Yes

Now for LOP

Now we are going to make sure that this LOP infection is not running in other profiles on your computer. With this infection, every user's profile can carry this infection.

* Please click this link to download Silent Runners.

* Save it to the desktop.

* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.

* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)

* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Regards,

Trevuren

First we will try and find some of the elements of the infection. If they are present, I will provide the necessary directions to remove them in the next post.
  • Open notepad
  • Copy and paste the text contained in the Code box into the new Notepad file:

    dir %Windir%\tasks /a h > files.txt
    notepad files.txt
  • Save this as findjobs.bat , choose to save it as *all files and place it on your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on op findjobs.bat and post the content of the textfile you get in your next reply.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
  • First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:
    • Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
    • Choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
    • Uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
    • Close the window with ok
  • Please RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

  • Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.h...lion&pf=desktop
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie.redirect.h...lion&pf=desktop
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ca.red.client.../search/ie.html
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = https://login.yahoo....ogers.yahoo.com
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ca.red.client.../search/ie.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://ca.red.client...//www.yahoo.com
    O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {B313D637-F405-4052-AC37-E2119AB3C8F8} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvw.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Seek bold dupe plus] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\global proxy seek bold\REGS RECT.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SIZETHIS] C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\APPLIC~1\TIMESO~1\Mix Poke.exe
    O4 - Global Startup: Updates from HP.lnk = C:\Program Files\Updates from HP\309731\Program\Updates from HP.exe
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: awvvw - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvvw.dll (file missing)

  • Now with all the items selected, and all windows closed except for HJT, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window.

  • Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

    • Restart the computer.
    • As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
    • Press Enter.
  • Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and DELETE them (if they are present):

    C:\WINDOWS\ALCMTR.EXE
ALCMTR.EXE<==You will have to perform a Search for this one
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\global proxy seek bold<==Folder
    C:\DOCUME~1\HP_ADM~1\APPLIC~1\TIMESO~1<==Folder

  • Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

  • Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everything looks now.
Regards,

Trevuren
