Do you want each member to have their own username and password or do you just want 1 password that people type in to enter the member area?

I think you should ust place a password gate on your websites areas, so that there'd be only one password that you have to type to get onto the page..
But that's only if you trust your "members" to not give out the password to any other people...

There was a similar topic not too longer ago, and to quote ditto

password protecting anything with javascript is pretty useless because js scripts are client based, so the person can just look at the script and find out what the pw is....

server side scripts are more secure
