my computer takes a long time to find hard drives

When I open explorer and seclect my computer the flashlight shows up and the hard drives take along time to show up. What can I do?

This is often an early indication of hard drive failure. First thing I'd do is go into Administrative Tasks>Event Viewer and look at the system logs for any indications. Double click on any error events to open the description. If there is an indication you can download software from the drive maker to diagnose the drive. Don't tax the drive any more than you have to, new drives are pretty cheap right now, and you can write your old hard drive image to the new one, saving everything, if the drive holds up long enough.
