Ok,

When I go to start any version of Call of Duty, *CoD - Cod UO - CoD2* they take about a minute to load the actual menu.

I would double click the icon on my desktop, it will show the call of duty sign on my desktop for atleast a minute, then it will load.

It used to load STRAIGHT away, why not now?.

Any help appreciated 8)

Hello Darkarmy and welcome to Geeks to go!

Have you installed any mods or custom content?
Have you tried running disk defragmenter?
Have you closed all unnecessary background tasks?

Thanks for the welcome :tazz:

No, I have not downloaded any MODS since I reformatted 2 days ago.
All background tasks get shut down except xfire *I've already tried loading without xfire, it doesnt work*.
I shouldn't need to defragment if I only reformatted 2 days ago should I?

You usually need to defrag after a reformat as you usually reinstall at ton of apps and put all your files back on, and that kinda thing frags a hard drive to [bleep].

What do you have for a system. On my desktop which just barly makes the minimum to run CoD 2, it only takes about 10-20sec to start up.

Hmmm, Do you think that you could have malware on your computer? How is the gameplay after it starts?

The only other thing I can think of is that you didn't install it right, but you are saying this is happining for all 3 CoD games.

Na, I dont have any viruses or spyware sinec I only installed windows again the other week, and scans have found nothing since then.

Could it be because I'm using Zonealarm or this computer is on a LAN behind a router?.

I remember when I had norton 2005 it came on straight away, now with zonealarm it doesnt o.o

I don't know. Norton is more of an anti-virus program while Zone alarm is a firewall. But I think that it would only make a difference when connecting/joining a game, not during the start up.

Do you have anyother games on your computer? If so how quickly do they load?
