I have a Northgate 8599 laptop, about 1 1/2 years old. Recently the battery died and I bought a new one. I have not been able to get it to charge. The red light comes on to indicate charging, but it does't happen. I have tried removing and reinstalling the battery several times with no luck. I put the old battery in and it charges but it dies soon due to being old and wore out. Do you have any experience with something like this? Is the new battery no good?

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. It is possible the new battery is no good. See if you can get the folks were you bought it to agree to exchange it.
