Windows xp Home wont logon

Hi , im on my windows 98 at the moment :tazz: but i have an XP Home which will not log me on what it does is when i type my password to logon to windows and press enter it says loading your personal settings then the welcome screen dissapears as normal then somehow it logs off by itself i dont know how i even tryed booting into safe mode but no use.. anyone know anything i can do ?
