My PC restarted automatically with a warning saying sth wrong with the RPC.

To prevent this from happening, I've set the "Response" into "Take No Action" in the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Properties.

But in the "General" window, the "Startup type: Automatic" and it's gray that I'm unable to change it into Manual. Also the "Service status: Started" with the the 4 funtion buttons gray~!

I updated the Ad-Aware SE Personal and used it to clean all the harmful objects,
and by using the Hijackthis, I manually deleted one suspicious DIR, called Admanager Controller, which Ad-Aware said to be harmful.

The Fix Checked is
1/26/2005, 11:11:17 Am: 04-HKLM\..\Run:[Admanager Controller]C:\Program Files\Admanager\...(several files including one called admanctl.exe and some DLL, already deleted, can't remember exactly)

Here is my present Hijack log

Reboot into safe mode and use the Disk Cleanup Utility to empty all your Temp folders.

Then find this file:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\conime.exe
and rename it to conime.bak

Boot normally and post a new HjiackThis log.

Looks good, but I was wondering where you got this:
MS-4011 Memory Patch = D:\AntiVirus\EXEC\RavSasser.exe

The startup entry looks to be pointing to your CD-ROM drive.

Thx, man
RavSasser.exe is just an anti-vrius tool againt worm.sasser
I've disabled it now
and MS-4011 Memory Patch = D:\AntiVirus\EXEC\RavSasser.exe
is lno onger shown in either Hijack log or startuplist.

BUT still, the options in the RPC properties are gray and unable to change.....would you be so kind as to instruct me how to solve that? or at least explain the RPC function to me in general.
Thx for yr responsibility and quick reply...thx a lot~!
