Modem not detected

Modem was working fine with no problem accessing the internet. All of a sudden the modem not detected and nothing is listed in device manager. Moved the modem to different ports with no luck. Computer locks up after 10 minutes. Any ideas?

Modem Not Detected

1st of all what type of Modem – Internal motherboard – PCI – USB External – COM Port External
2nd – Is it a [Dial up] - [Cable] – [DSL]
3rd – Is it a wireless and/or is there a wireless router

Can you give s brief description of what you were doing when it stopped – Did you do any Upgrades – or [Windows Updates] or Install new Hardware – Any Electrical Storms – or Loss of Power – Update Drivers

Just need someplace/something to latch onto for a starting point – Give following info

1- Model & Make of PC
2- Model & Make of Motherboard
3- Model & Make of Modem
4- Operating System & Service Pack installed
5- Age of PC & Modem
