Here is my HiJackThis Log info.
PLEASE I need help! This is so annoying when I open internet explorer.
Here is my message as well:

Just to let everyone know that all of these issues started after I signed up at Myspace.com

Myspace is a great place but it has to many errors and bugs on it and I am sick of it already!

This doesn't pop up when I sign on my windows only when I sopen up internet explorer!
Everytime I open up internet explorer I get an error message that pops up on a blank website page
with a bunch of letters and number after winfixer.com

I tried Ad-Aware, Micro Trendo Anti-Spyware, SpyBot, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, and nothing seems to get ride of it. I also cleared the cookies, deleted internet files and folders, even the ones offline, cleared the history and nothing!

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting, but continue with the fix.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which will not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions!

You have the dreaded Virtumonde (Vundo B) infection. You may have other malware too, but the HJT log appears to have been created in safe mode, which means that only a minimal number of drivers and applications are loaded. Let’s see what we can do with the first sweep.

I note that you are running HijackThis from Temporary Folder; please create a new folder for it (for example C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\Hijackthis.exe) and move the programme into it. It is very important you do this before anything else since backup files can be deleted if they are not within their own folder!

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
• This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
• After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
• You will first be presented with a warning.

• At this point press enter once.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

I am just really upset with this! Is there anything else
I can get rid of this? Like any other programs that will

If you just want to run a scanner and hope it fixes it, download the 14-day trial of SpySweeper.

Please download SpySweeper (It's a 2 week trial):

• Click the Free Trial link under to "SpySweeper" to download the program.
• Install it. Once the program is installed, it will open.
• It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
• Once the definitions are installed, click Options on the left side.
• Click the Sweep Options tab.
• Under What to Sweep please put a check next to the following:
  • Sweep Memory
  • Sweep Registry
  • Sweep Cookies
  • Sweep All User Accounts
  • Enable Direct Disk Sweeping
  • Sweep Contents of Compressed Files
  • Sweep for Rootkits
  • Please UNCHECK Do not Sweep System Restore Folder.
• Click Sweep Now on the left side.
• Click the Start button.
• When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
• Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
• It will remove all of the items found.
• Click Session Log in the upper right corner, copy everything in that window.
• Click the Summary tab and click Finish.
• Paste the contents of the session log you copied into your next reply.

I tried to restart to safemode but it was just a blank black screen whith just the words on the sides.
That's why it didnt work for me.

OK, I now understand.

Lots of people have this same problem.

Please try the fix in normal mode, it will work OK too.

I use safe mode because very few drivers and applications load giving fewer problems.

Thanx so much! Yeah, when I saw that file I thought of deleting it to but I had to wait until I got the ok from ya!
So thanx for the OK!
Oh yeah and when I did a san again I saw one of the old files came back, so I deleted it as well.
Here is the new log, let me know what to do with the one that came back, well I deleted it, so I will just have to wait till tomorrow or later to see if it comes back. The file was C:\WINDOWS\systems32\jkhhg.dll that cam back but I deleted it again just to let ya know!

Congratulations! your new log is clean. Just a little bit more to do to prevent further infection.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programmes changing them. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.)

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
I recommend going to the following link and update as recommended by Microsoft. This adds more security and extra features including a pop-up blocker for Internet Explorer. Microsoft Update

Now that everything is fixed, I suggest that you consider getting these programmes to help keep the computer clean:

SPYWARE BLASTER - Blocks bad ActiveX items from installing on your computer.
AD-AWARE PERSONAL – A fine free malware detector and removal programme
SPYBOT S&D – Excellent free spyware detector and removal programme
GOOGLE TOOLBAR - Blocks many unwanted pop-ups in Internet Explorer.
FIREFOX - Safer alternative to the Internet Explorer web browser.
AVG ANTIVIRUS FREE EDITION - Free antivirus programme if you currently are not using one.
ZONEALARM - Free firewall programme if you currently are not using one (Windows XP has a built-in firewall).

Remember to update these frequently.

Please note that whilst there is nothing wrong in having more than one antispyware programmes for “on demand” scanning, having two or more antivirus systems is not recommended as they may well interfere with each other.

You may also want to read "How did I get infected in the first place" to learn how to better secure your computer.

Be sure to keep your Windows, antispyware and antivirus updated.

Matt, one of the problems you have had with the bad file returning is that the first log I looked at from you was created in safe mode, so there were very few running processes for me to see. When I eventually saw a log from normal mode, I could see that you had Microsoft Antispyware enabled. That programme will protect your registry from change. So if you delete a bad file, it will reverse the deletion and bring it back; you have to disable MSAS for fixing.

The question about the restore points, I am the Administrator. I just renamed the name, does that have something to do with it? I only have my name and guest, thats it so it should have worked.

Also, what about Micro Trend Anti-spyware heard anything good about it?

If your profile has administrator's rights, then you should be able to switch off (clear) the restore points and then switch them back on again (create). Changing your name will not matter.

Trend Micro Anti-spyware should be very good since it is from a very reputable company (PCCillin)

Steps to take to clear out your quarantine. When a virus is caught by Norton, it is placed in the quarantine. You need to then delete it permanently.

To open Norton Antivirus click on Start/Programs/Norton Antivirus or double-click the icon in the bottom right corner.

1. Open Norton Antivirus, click on View and then click Quarantine.

2. Once in the quarantine you will see the files that Norton has put in there. Click on the file to highlight it, then select the delete icon. It will bring up the Take action screen.

3. Click on Start Delete and the file(s) will be deleted and change in status to “succeeded”.

Once finished, click Close and exit NAV.
