My system is running extremely slow! Some things aren't working properly like my "all programs" menu has disappeared, every time I start up my PC the Anti-virus has been turned off and any website I visit that use flash will not load (I've loaded and unloaded Macromedia Flash Player several times).

Thank You

Hi there and welcome to the forums. Sorry for the delay, but we have been pretty busy lately. Can you update your Ewido, run a complete system scan and post the log for me to review?

Hello,

Thank you for your help. No problem on it take a while to get to me, I understand you guys are very busy.

I updated Ewido and ran a complete system scan. I wasn't sure if you wanted a new Hijack This log or the one from Ewido so I'll give you both. :tazz:

I usually only have a few things running at start up but I enabled everything for the scan.

This is the log I got from Ewido that I ran a few days ago followed by the one from today.

Please go to Start -> Run -> cmd and press Enter. At the command prompt type sfc /scannow, making sure to put a space between the "c" and the slash, and then press Enter. This will run the System File Checker. Follow the prompts, and insert your Windows installation CD if requested. Then please restart your computer. Let me know if that helps.

Ok, I did that but I do not notice any change at all. I do not have an actual XP disc just the "XP Recovery" disc that came with my computer. I ran the scan using that disc, will that work the same? The same things as before are not working and it takes a good 7 or 8 minutes to go through the whole start up routine with the hard drive working like crazy the whole time.

Ok, you have Steganos Security Suite running on your system and it appears to do many of the same things as your Symantec product. What parts of the Steganos Security Suite are you using specifically?

Actually I don't use Steganos Security Suite at all (well, rarely anyway). Nor do I use most of the things in the msconfig start up tab. I usually have most of them disabled, I only have them enabled now because I thought I had read to enable everything before running a scan and posting a log here. My problems started before I enabled everything. The only things I normally have enabled on the start up are:

IAMAPP
navapw32
qcasServ
SNDMon
zlclient
SNDMon
launchpd

Ok, can you uninstall Steganos and see if your system speed is improved?

Ok, I uninstalled several things including Zone Alarms, Ewido and Steganos and am now just running Norton Internet Security and Microsoft AntiSpyware. I think over-kill was part of my problem.

Start up seams to be somewhat faster now but something still keeps turning off my Anti-virus every time I start up. And my "All Programs" menu is gone (just on this account).

Keegen, I am checking with the other experts on the site to see about your All Programs issue. I will be back with you soon.

Ok, let's try Fenor's suggestion. Download the following file to your desktop:
http://www.kellys-ko...disableundo.reg

Double-click the file and allow it to merge into the registry. Reboot your computer and let me know if that helps.

That did not work. :tazz: However, I think I'm just going to make a new account on my PC and transfer all my settings there and then delete this account. That should take care of it since all the the my programs works fine on all the other account.

I'd still like to know why my anti-virus is turned off every time I start up. Any ideas? Maybe I can just re-install Norton?

If the Steganos included and Antivirus application, that could explain why Norton is disabled. Having 2 antivirus applications can cause that effect. I would recommend reinstalling Norton.
