Hi,

I have a Linksys WAG54G router for my wifi networ. In parts of our house the signal strength is very poor. Any ideas on how to improve the signal strength? Please reply. Will an Airport Express improve the signal?

Thanks

Andrew

The best thing you can do is to locate the router as centrally as possible within the house. Inevitably, the signal is not going to be very strong in some sections of the house due to interference (walls, pipes, etc.) but you can reduce this by reducing the distance from the router to the computers, e.g. locating the router as centrally as possible.

If you want to spend the money, you can get a signal booster that will do the trick as well:

you can get an extra antenna that attaches to the router.

i don't know if this works with your router or not but look into this type of extender. first you can try this make sure your computer and the router are on the same channel. if your router is 802.11g you can put your router on g mode only to increase power but not by much. and put your wireless computer to 54g mode only as well. that helps alittle both all of this put together might get you 1 more bar of strength. if not you will have the same strength but better consistency
