pc shutdown on av scanning

hi all,
sent to you by another forum.
for 5 days have been experiencing trouble with pc shutting down on doing av scan.
i have all the programs you recommend and use dilligently.
i recently converted to opera and fire fox and use exclusively.
pc is now shuuting down and rebooting on start up and i seem to be able to get some time if a disconnect from power source and leave for several hours.
i downloaded trojan hunter as recommended and the same thing happened pc shut down and rebooted by self every start up now takes me to restore active desktop.
at a loss the only av that seems to complete its job is ms snti virus S&D adaware ewido get tot point and the process starts again.
disturbingly today i noticed that my maiwasher program has had all its friends and blacklist adresses erased
here is my hjt log hope someone can give a clue as to what is happening and how to fix.
bit of a tech ludite but can follow instrucitons.

Sorry about the delay in responding, we're very busy around here and your log appears to have been overlooked.

There's nothing in your log untoward in your "Safe Mode" HJT log.

Am I right in presuming the machine operates fine while in Safe Mode?

Do any of the security programs you have installed detect anything if run in Safe Mode?

Have you looked at the Event Viewer for clues as to what the problem might be?

I'm thinking possibly a hardware or driver problem at the moment.
