Hi,

Just had help for another problem and decided to get my computer up to date with spyware removers etc. I've tried to install Spyware Blaster but it gets half way through and comes up with the following msg.

C\windows\system32\msinet.ocx.
An error occured while trying to replace the existing file.
Delete file failed code 5
Access is denied
Then:- Click retry to try again, Ignore to skip file (not recommended) and abort to cancel

Could someone plz advise??

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log as a new topic in the Hijack This forum. It will get a better response there from the people most qualified to analyze logs.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide. Also see this post.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Hi Admin,

Here is the updated log of Linda12, she is the friend that I have been helping. She won't be able to do this on her own. I've been keeping track on replies but can't get over to see her until Thursday. This here log is the updated one I did for her when she couldn't get onto her MSN account (or blackboard for he uni stuff) It was when it was clean that I tried to download spyware blaster and could't'. (I did manage on her home pc....this being her laptop)

If you reply to this I can contact her and give her what help she needs.

I did as u said and here's my updated log.

Could I just ask? This is my laptop but I also really need help with my home pc. My friend advised me to ask for your help as you've helped her b4. If I hadn't made a mistake of downloading some poop in the first place I would never have realised the amount of spyware I had on my pc.
I have norton but have also now got avg. Also I'm going to get the spyware stuff you've advised ppl to have.
If you could help me with my pc would it be best to register in a different name??
