Hello, I am having problems. Originally my browser was hi-jacked but after running the recommeded scans I have regained control of my browser. Spy Axe keeps re-installing its self and it is a real pain. Plus when I scan with various products recommended I keep finding PS Guard cookies.

Please print out these directions for use if/when you do not have access to this page.

Download SpyAxeFix.exe © noahdfear, and save it to your desktop.

• Close all other programs and windows.
• Double click SpyAxeFix.exe, then click Start to extract the tool to it's own folder.
• Open the SpyAxeFix folder and double click the SpyAxeFix.bat to start the tool.
• At one point when the tool runs, your taskbar will dissappear, and your computer will restart when the tool completes.
• A text file named spyaxe.txt will be created in the SpyAxeFix folder.
• Post the contents of that log, and a new HJT please.

Hello Matt,

Had a Bit of a problem with Spyaxe fixer. When i ran the spyaxefixer.bat AVG flashed up with a virus alert regarding the fixer file. After this I could not run the spyaxefixer.bat file as it said I don't have permission. This is similar behaviour displayed by the other spyware files I have found in the past.

Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode. Log in as Administrator.

* Open the SpyAxeFix folder and double click the SpyAxeFix.bat to start the tool.

Reboot your computer normally.

Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Once in safe mode, find/delete the follwoing file and folder:

C:\WINDOWS\xdspvmsw.exe (file)
C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (folder)


Then, reboot, rescan with HJT, and post a new log for check.

How is your system running?

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.

• Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  
• AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  
• SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep malware from installing on your system.
  
• SpywareGuard - Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.
  
• IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  
• CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  
• Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
