This trojan has somehow locked into my friend's computer so that she can not access the internet via her AOL connection. Her Spyware and McAfee virus scan have identified the trojan as: PWS-Hooker.dll and the path as: C:/_RESTORE/temp/A0458843.CTY has been highlighted by Spyware.

Hi sblumer

Have your friend disable System Restore by following the instructions on this page http://www.pchell.co...emrestore.shtml for either Windows XP or ME - whichever your friend has. That will flush the System Restore file out.

System restore can be reset when the computer is cleaned up.

If there is no internet access at all I think there might be more problems than just that one. That worm uses networking and the internet.

There is a removal tool available here http://securityrespo...moval.tool.html

Read through this thread and see how much your friend might be able to do if there is someone to help http://www.geekstogo...?showtopic=2852

Download HijackThis from the link in the thread and post a log into this thread so someone can have a closer look at what is happening on the computer.

HijackThis and the removal tool will fit on a floppy disk so someone else might be able to download it and get them to your friend.

It might also be worth checking with AOL that there isn't a problem with the connection.
