Hi all,

I've been having a real go with my computer for a little over a month now. Initially, I realized quite quickly that I had Look2Me, and after much work, was able to get rid of it. Once I had though, I noticed that the Device Manager was showing that there were registry problems with the drivers for SiS Processor to AGP Controller, Direct Parallel, and the modem. I was able to correct reinstall the modem driver, and aside from the other two driver issues, all seemed fine.

A few days later my network connection suddenly disappeared, as well as the contents of the Device Manager. When I open a Windows Explorer window it takes quite a while to show the contents, and I also can't enter any addresses in IE. Programs are taking too long to start up, too.

I scoured the internet and found a few possible fixes, including the removal of Windows XP update KB905749, checking that PnP was running in the processes (as well as stopping and restarting it), a registry repair for the Device Manager itself, and last but not least, running the Apropos fix. Nothing has helped at all, and Apropos fix doesn't find anything. I don't see ContextPlus or any other unfamiliar programs.

From what I've come across, the symptoms sound the same as Apropos, but I'm finding nothing on my system. I regularly run Ad-Aware, Search & Destroy, Microsoft Antispyware, and Norton - Spyware Doctor and PestPatrol, as well. I've installed other programs like Ewido and used online scanners, but found nothing. I've tried scanning in Safe Mode....still nothing found. Incidentally, when I'm in Safe Mode I can see the contents of my Device Manager, but still no network connection.

One other odd occurance that started during this was an error message that pops up regularly saying that IUECTRAC.EXE can't run because of missing DLLs......I have no idea what that is, but it seems suspicious and I can't find any record of it anywhere.

I'm at a loss for ideas, so I'm hoping I can get some guidance here. Starting with my HijackThis log, does anyone see anything questionable?

Thanks to wizzardprang's thread, I was able to fix my problem! Well, hopefully, lol! As you can see from my post, I've scoured the internet for days trying everything I could find, but I hadn't come across this information. I ran F-secure and it found the files that needed to go......one of them was the mysterious IUECTRAC.EXE, as I suspected.

Now my Device Manager is full and I can see my Internet connection again! Thanks for updating your thread with the information you found, wizzardprang!
