Is this more like what you're getting? :

"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com',

Server: 'localhost', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket

Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

This is an example only so may not be exactly what you get.

If your anti-virus is scanning incoming/outgoing mail, the connection sometimes just times out when using either Outlook or Outlook Express. If you can access your Hotmail account onlne ok, this may be happening. Some of the XP updates have also set security for Outlook and Outlook Express which has caused problems until permissions are set the way you want them. Doublecheck your firewall permissions if it doesn't clear up.

Got your PM and answered it, but you had already gone offline. Need to know if your problem is connecting to the Hotmail account via a mail client (Outlook, OE, etc.) or if you have not been able to connect directly to Hotmail online and are having problems logging in? The mail client may be corrupt, the account for Hotmail as set up may have changed in someway, the TCP/IP connection may be at fault, your password may be corrupt and a host of other things. Just need to what/where the problem is occuring and then we can proceed from there by possibly using telnet commands, re-installing the mail client or whatever is required.
