Hope i am on the right section...
I am trying to update windows without success when i try. it takes a long time then leaves an error
0x80246008 when I go to the help side and follow instructions eg run services.msc and event log
i get an error.

"Windows could not start the background intelligent transfer services on local computer
for more info review the system event log .
contact vendor and refer to service specific error code 2147024894."

I did try and run the event log but i could not start it.

any idea how I can resolve prob and get my security updates.

Cheers..... :tazz: :)

Step 1
Are you getting a specific error message?
If so, go here and check it

If no error, go to step 2

Step 2

Start >Run, type
regsvr32 jscript.dll
<enter>

try windows update. Now working still? Try

Start >Run, type
regsvr32 MSXML3.dll
<enter>

try windows update. Now working still? Try

step 3

Download and install the following

hi dsenette

Thanx for helping out ...have checked that thread and looks like this might sort my problem out the only thing is i am a bit basic on the knowledge..
a bit embarrrssing.....
1.Create a file on your desktop called wu5_fix.bat and put the following lines in it. oops not sure how to do this.
2.open a DOS box and navigate to your desktop.
not sure of this either.
3.To execute the batch file, just type the file name at the command prompt.. or this

In fact the whole thing really need it in simple terms...
hope you can bare with me....

cheers

to create a batch file....open up note pad....and type the info that it says to type into it...then click file..save as...then at the bottom..where it asks for the name type wu5_fix.bat...then change the file type to all files...then save it...you've just created a batch file...

technically...you can just double click it to run the batch file...you shouldn't need to go trhough doss...but if y ou do

the doss box can be found by clicking start > run > then type cmd
