Okay, this is what i found out, what happened and what i did.

I found out that i got the problem or the "trojan" from Msn plus! like 2 months ago ...my friend sent me it, but i dont think my friend knew it had a trojan or something. Msn plus! was running fine and i had lots of fun with it, but one day i decided to delete it...so i did..and obviously now i only had msn messenger 6...but now i coudln't see peoples screenames, i could only see their emails, which was annoying! So yesterday i went back and downloaded msn plus! again and found out that in the preferences i had chosen to 'display emails and not screenames', so i checked it off and i uninstalled it...but before i uninstalled it, i found out that msn plus! was full of viruses..it gave me a new toolbar, new unwanted icons on my desktop and some stuff in "my favorites"...so i went on hijackthis and deleted them by myself ....ok so basically here's the problem... I can't see any screenames when im chatting, i only see emails...and the thing is that i have to install msn plus to see screneames because msn plus is where the preferences thing is... well, i dont know what to do now..so here's my hjt log, thanks!

Well I'll admit it. My friend sent me a file, and I believe it was 141kb long...so accepted it, and once the transfer was over, my antivirus program told me that i had the bloodhound virus

hi rollingstone24

do a search for the item to see if you have it

1. Click Start, and click Run. The Run dialog box appears.
2. Type regedit and then click OK.
3. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
4. In the right pane, delete the value that refers to the Trojan.
5. Close the Registry Editor. Any changes that you made are saved automatically.

Check the StartUp Folder
Some Trojans load from the Windows StartUp folder. Please follow these steps remove them:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Taskbar.
2. Click the Start Menu Programs tab.
3. Click Advanced, open the Programs folder, and then open the StartUp folder.
4. In the right pane, locate the file that you want to remove (for example, System.exe), and select it. This may be the actual file, or a shortcut to it.
5. Click the Edit menu, and click Cut.
6. Open a folder of your choice into which you want to move the file or shortcut.
7. Click the Edit menu, and click Paste.
8. Close the window, click OK, and then restart the computer.

Hi rollingstone24

DONT SEE ANY MALWARE OR THE SIGNS OF A VIRUS

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN :tazz:

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use). Click Here
QUOTE
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox user posted image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats.
