Hi

I have just installed a D500 router, ( I thought ,to give me better protection)when I do a online sygate scan most ports are shown as Closed not stealthed or blocked is this OK. I am also running MS firewall, I have Zone Alarm Security Suite but not running.
As well as the router should I renable Zone Alarm.

If the router has its own firewall (commonly called NAT) then its a hardware firewall and its twenty times better than any software firewall.

but there's no harm iin having a separate software firewall as well.
