strange video display

whenever i play a video prom the internet in windows media player it is all kinda pixalated and real weird bright colours, anyone know why?

I find that many downloaded videos are way off on colors. I use a samsung TFT monitor and it is calibrated using this webpage.

I've seen many monitors and noticed a wide variety of color and brightness. Many people don't calibrate their monitors at all. So you get stuck with all kinds of videos that look strange.
