USB Device Not Recognized

Hi All

I have just got an iPod. When told to plug in the iPod I did and then a dialogue box came up saying that the USB device was not recognised. I followed the instructions to try and sort this out and even downmloaded more up to date iPod software but problem persists.

Can anyone help?
