A while back some kind of adware took over my desktop, and replaced my walpaper with an advertisement. I managed to get rid of that. However, now I have a blue desktop, I can not right click to make any change on the desktop or to a file on the desktop, all of the files on the desktop are duplicated. If I create additional shortcuts they are duplicated as well.

I have followed all of the steps on the "Must read this..." page, and I am including a Hijackthis log.

Hi milwmaker2005!

Please go to Windows Update and download and install all critical updates until you have Service Pack 2 installed.

Once you have done that, go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
