Missing CD drive in "My Computer" Folder

Just recently, I have noticed that when I put a CD into the CD drive of my computer, the window that asks me what I want to do (play the cd, rip music, burn music, etc) does not pop-up. I figured I could go to My Computer and double click on the cd drive icon, but the icon was not there. I system restored my computer and was able to retrieve it. Then today the same problem occured, however, after system restoring, it still wasn't there. I read up on the topic and found out that I have a virus in my computer. How can I get rid of this virus and restore my cd drive back to originality?
