I believe a guest in my home may have set up remote access to my computer, so that she can check my computer at will - without my consent. Can I detect this? How can I stop it whether or not I can detect it? <_<

Welcome bgrayesq! <_< Sounds like a difficult situation. Remote desktop does allow a remote user complete access to your computer.

Disable remote access by clicking Start -> Control Panel -> System, select the "Remote" tab, Uncheck "Allow users to connect remtotely to this computer". There will be NO remote connections allowed to your computer.

Detection of a remote connection is more difficult (unless you're at your computer when connected). If you really want to know please ask, I'll need to look into it, but I'm pretty sure you need to install a firewall with packet detection.
