when i turn my computer off and cold boot it wants to carry me to a screen and ask me do i want to start normally or safe mode. when i enter start normally it gives me the hp screen and the windows screen but then goes back to the same screen and ask me again if i want to start normally or safe mode. what do i do? my computer didn't come with an xp cd. here is the latest log. my compute is an hp pavilion 7915 1.1ghz, 128mb ram, 40gig hd running xp home.

yeah it will start in safe mode but it will not let me go to last know good configuration. this is a new problem as far as i know but i am not sure because i usually keep it running all of the time. after completely shutting the computer down several times and then doing a cold boot a lot of times it will finally boot up normally. so i just try to keep it on until i can resolve this issue. i will try system restore and see if that helps.
